Escribo este pequeño artículo motivado por el compañero y amigo Mariano Ariel, que me hizo notar recientemente el posible interés de la incorporación del duo Azolla-Anabaena en el acuario y me pidió mi “opinión química” al respecto, la cual he tratado de plasmar en esta revisión dándole los tintes biológicos necesarios.
El nitrógeno es uno de los bioelementos primarios, por supuesto fundamental para las plantas, en las que no solo es necesario para la síntesis de clorofila, sino para la síntesis de todas las proteínas (que no dejan de ser biopolímeros de aminoácidos) y del propio ADN y ARN (presente en sus bases nitrogenadas), en otras palabras, absolutamente indispensable en grandes cantidades. Esto hace que, en términos generales del cultivo vegetal, haya sido y sea una de las mayores preocupaciones aportar el suficiente nitrógeno para optimizar el crecimiento y reproducción de las plantas, sin embargo, esta tarea nunca ha sido fácil ni barata por lo a continuación expuesto.

Azolla es un género de helechos acuáticos, aptos para el mantenimiento en el acuario, que muestra la peculiaridad de su relación simbiótica con Anabaena. - En acuarios si se mantiene la mitad de la superficie con ellas aporta alimentacion y nitrogeno al acuario,. claro para ello se debe tener una buena cantidad de plantas que consuman estos nutrientes que aportara, pero si se tiene omnivoros o caracoles que las consuman se llega a un equilibrio donde se mantienen y alimentan los peces y a las plantas de fondo ,.( claro siempre controlando los desechos no sean algo excesivos, cosa que mas plantas lo solucionan, lo que no es malo tampoco )
